Cliche` Speak

It's raining cats and dogs today which got me thinking about cliches`. They are so exactly communicative and yet frowned upon.

It's probably a waste of time, but I feel the need to point out the obvious. A cliche is nothing more than a commonplace truism, an expression that has lost it's originality, so we throw it out with the bath water. I think we should write as we speak.

To tell the truth,if we truly want to communicate, the cliche expresses to others our true meaning without  having to read between the lines.

Well having lost track of time, I should move on and read the writing on the wall. You all take care, and I'll see you when I see you. Have a good day, you know.

Fearless? I doubt it. We all have some issue that scare us, but I think one of the most common is what others think of us. Why do we let other's opinions count for more than our own? I have done this for years, and all it's done for me is place limits on my life.

This has been on my mind lately because a friend of mine is dealing with this on her blog and in her life. I feel I have made great advances (really) in this. I used to be so shy I could not start a conversation with someone I didn't know, now I'll talk to anyone and probably for too long. I have found this also goes along with trying unfamilar things. The problem is how badly I feel about myself when I slide back into old patterens of thinking and how easy it is to do that.

I know I have to do the thing I fear and fear doesn't hurt , it's just uncomfortable. I can live with discomfort especially when the result is self-esteem.

Now that leads me to another favorite topic. Self-esteem, it has to be earned, it cannot be given as so many people seem to think. Maybe that's another blog.

Back to the fear thing, if you have issues, try one little thing. You'll feel so good you'll want more. This isn't rocket science, but it works. The other point I want to make is this, while you're worried about what someone is thinking of you they are probably thinking about what you are thinking of them.So silly.
